What is A Recovery Coach
Finding Hope, Healing, and a New Way Forward
Let’s start with the truth: asking for help takes real courage. Not the Hollywood kind that kicks down doors, but the quieter kind that whispers, “There has to be another way.” If you’re here, reading this, I want you to know that you’re not alone. And you’re not broken. You’re human. And humans beautifully imperfect as we are, sometimes need a hand to hold while we figure things out. That’s where recovery coaching comes in.
So… What Is a Recovery Coach?
At its core, coaching is about connection. It’s not therapy. It’s not treatment. It’s not someone diagnosing you or diving deep into your past. Instead, coaching is a partnership, a present-moment, forward-focused relationship that honors your agency and supports your growth.
A Recovery Coach walks alongside individuals who are ready to explore a different relationship with alcohol, drugs, or other behaviors that no longer serve them. We don’t fix people. (Because you’re not something to be fixed.) We support your process of rediscovery, clarity, and change—on your terms.
In our work together, we create a space that is nonjudgmental, empathetic, and deeply grounded in trust. You set the goals. I help you find the tools, motivation, and accountability to get there.
What Does a Recovery Coach Actually Do?
Great question. Here’s what we do:
Support clients at every stage—early recovery, middle ground, and long-term growth.
Help you imagine a life beyond substances—and create a plan to get there.
Focus on your strengths, your values, and your hopes (not just your habits).
Break down barriers that might be keeping you stuck.
Normalize the messy middle: the fear, the doubt, the “what now?”
Offer structure and support in building a life you’re proud of.
And Here’s What We Don’t Do:
We don’t provide clinical treatment or therapy.
We don’t diagnose or assess mental health disorders.
We don’t define your recovery by one method or one path.
We don’t live in the past, we learn from it, but we move forward.
Is Coaching Right for You?
Maybe. Maybe not. I’m not here to convince you. I’m here to invite you.
Recovery isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s a patchwork quilt, stitched together with therapy, community, coaching, journaling, meditation, movement, art… whatever helps you feel whole again.
Recovery coaching is just one piece of the puzzle. But for many, it’s the first step in building a life rooted in freedom, joy, and self-trust.
If you’re ready to explore what’s possible beyond survival if you’re craving a life of belonging to yourself, I’m here. Let’s take that first step, together.
